Dr. Gayleen Eilers, 55, daughter of Bob and Mildred Eilers passed away on October 17th, 2011.

She was born on November 29th, 1955. Gayleen graduated from Nelson High School, Hastings College, the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and the Cedar Rapids Family Practice Residency Program. Gayleen graduated with many academic honors including Alpha Chi, Summa Cum Laude, Doctor of Medicine with Distinction, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, among others. Gayleen practiced medicine in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as well as Eau Claire and La Crosse, Wisconsin. She had recently retired from her practice in La Crosse. She was a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, the Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians, the American College Health Association, the North Central College Health Association, the American College Personnel Association, and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. She enjoyed running, biking scrap booking and reading. She was a wonderful daughter and sister. Gayleen was a respected and dedicated physician. She is survived by her parents Bob and Mildred Eilers of Nelson, Nebraska, her brother and his wife, Stan and Carol Eilers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, nephews Scott Eilers and his wife Tracy of Apple Valley, Minnesota Tim Eilers of Cedar Rapids and niece Alison Eilers also of Cedar Rapids. At her request, Gayleen will be cremated and inurnment will take place in Nelson, Nebraska at a later date. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 11:00 am at English Lutheran Church, 1509 King St., La Crosse. The Rev. Melinda Pupillo will officiate.
