Duaine (Dewy) Keith Oliver, 85 of Onalaska, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Gundersen-Lutheran Hospital. He was born July 27, 1935, to Leslie and Constance (Connie) Oliver.

Duaine worked at the Allis Chalmers foundry in La Crosse until they closed their doors. After that, he put his considerable talent with tools and wood to work as a carpenter until his retirement in 2002. Duaine spent 4 years in the U.S. Air Force as an Air Policeman at Mountain Home AFB, ID.

On September 17, 1956, he married Patricia (Alexander) Oliver, in Elko, NV, to whom he was married for 45 years. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, they lived in La Crosse, and then Onalaska for all their married life. Together, they had seven children.

Duaine loved the outdoors and passed his passion for hunting (he was an expert marksman) and fishing on to his sons. He also bowled and played softball for years. He was happiest in the deer woods or fishing in his boat with his family. Duaine was an exceptionally sincere, hard-working man, who believed in an honest days’ work for an honest days’ pay. He had a great sense of humor and loved to share jokes and stories with his friends and family.

He is survived by his sons, Michael (Cindy) Oliver of Holmen, Dale Oliver of Onalaska, and Randal (Rebecca) Oliver of Sierra Vista, AZ, daughter Terry Oliver of Onalaska, and sons Timothy Oliver of La Crosse, and Marty (Sara) Oliver of Oakdale. He is also survived by a sister (Bonnie), 13 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, grandparents, an infant daughter, two brothers, five sisters, and one infant great-grandson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on or near his birthday in 2021.
