September 12, 2023

Elizabeth Ann Birdd, 74, of West Salem, Wisconsin, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Mayo Hospital in La Crosse.

Elizabeth, better known to her friends and family as “Beth” was born July 18, 1949, in Black River Falls Wisconsin, to Francis “Sever” and Laverne “Lee” Hardy. Beth was a 1967 graduate of Black River Falls Senior High School.

Beth married Larry Birdd on June 20, 1978 in La Valle, Wisconsin. They celebrated 45 years married this year. Beth had two sons from a previous marriage, and she and Larry had a daughter together.

Beth worked many years at West Salem Pharmacy and Union State Bank of West Salem. She retired from Union State Bank in December of 2012.

She was a woman that loved to talk with everyone that came into her life, she would share stories of the past and present. Beth was also an avid bowler, spending many years bowling with the West Salem Pharmacy team. Beth’s greatest joy was when she was able to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She wanted them all to know how much she loved and adored them.

Beth is survived by her husband, Larry of West Salem; sons, John (Sue) Giese of Black River Falls and Eric Giese of La Crosse; daughter, Jamie Birdd-Knudtson of Onalaska; grandchildren, Presley (Grant) Giese; Quincy (Mackenzie) Giese; Jack, Elliot and Isabella Giese; Jonathan (Gabby) Knudtson; Hope Knudtson; along with greatgrandchildren, Reese, Rhett, & Raelyn. Also survived by her brother, John (Donna) Hardy of Jacksonville, FL; brother-in-law David (Cindy) Birdd of Marquette and sister-in-law Nancy (Alan) Picha of Hillsboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Laverne Hardy; brother, Scott Hardy and grandson, Justin Giese.

The family sincerely thanks the Palliative & Hospice care at Mayo Hospital, La Crosse, along with Dr. Joseph Behm for the care and support they offered to both Beth and her family during this time.

A Celebration of Beth’s Life will be held with a time of visitation on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Gathering Place Building – 133 Mason Street, Onalaska, WI 54650
