Frances Bernice (Reiman) Comstock

Frances Bernice (Reiman) Comstock, daughter of John and Emma (Wells) Reiman, was born May 13, 1927, at home in rural Nuckolls County, Nebraska. She passed away on March 6, 2025, at Bethany Riverside Care Center at the age of 97.

Bernice grew up on a farm in Nebraska, attending school in Mt. Clare and Highland precinct. She graduated from Nelson High School in the class of 1944.
Bernice was united in marriage to Edward Comstock on July 26, 1946. Ed worked construction and after following the trade for a few years, they settled in the San Jacinto Valley in southern California. Bernice finished her education after the move, receiving her degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Redlands. She taught nineteen years in the Hemet and San Jacinto school district.

After retiring, Ed and Bernice traveled and researched her genealogy. She worked with a cousin to publish a book on her genealogy.
After the death of her husband, Bernice spent her time volunteering in the Head Start program and Hemet Hospice. She also spent sixteen years in a worldwide BSF Bible class, in leadership for five of those years. Bernice was a member of the Valle Vista Baptist Church in Hemet, CA, and joined the Sun City Community Church after moving to las Vegas, NV.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband Ed and her sister Hazel.

Survivors include a very special niece, (Leslie) Jeanne Swanson, great nephews Derek and Josh Swanson, extended nieces and nephews, a special friend, Kathy Swanson, other friends and church family.

Bernice’s family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to the Eaglecrest North assisted living staff, Bethany Riverside staff and St. Croix Hospice. She was a special lady, and you treated her with dignity and respect.

    Bernie and I became friends when she lived at Eagle Crest North. She would share memories of her childhood growing up in Nebraska, of her husband and her work of which she enjoyed.
    Bernie may you rest in peace.
