July 25, 2018 | 3 comments

Gary Lee Hutschenreuter “Hutch”, 68, of French Island, is now in peace after dying suddenly of a heart attack on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Mayo Health System in La Crosse. He was born on August 10, 1949 to Herman and Margaret Hutschenreuter.

Gary was a man of many interests; he loved riding his motorcycle, hunting, dogs, old western movies, spending time at his two favorite restaurants, Marge’s and Nutbush, and most importantly, being around people. Anyone who had the privilege of spending time with Gary was also sure to be met with his light-hearted teasing. He had a compassionate nature, he participated as a big brother in the big brother program and also as a caretaker for his mother before she passed away. He worked as a tow truck driver, a mechanic and also as a school bus driver for 26 years. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend.

Gary is survived by his brothers, Ronald (Jean) Hutschenreuter and Douglas Pfaff; brother in law, Raymond Hasz; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings; William Hutschenreuter, James Hutschenreuter, Bernard Hutschenreuter, Richard Pfaff, Darlene Hasz, and Herman Hutschenreuter Jr.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Officer Nathan Casper, EMT, Pastor Baldukas, and the medical staff and chaplains of Mayo.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 7 PM at Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason St., Onalaska, WI 54650, in the Gathering Place, with visitation held prior from 5 PM until the time of service. Pastor Dave Baldukas will be officiating.

Condolences
