Obituary
Gordon Dale “Gordy” Reise
“Gordy” was born Dec 5,1945 to Edgar and Pearl (Dittman) Reise, with a wonderful sister Bernice awaiting his arrival. Dad had many fond stories of his childhood on the family farm on Brinkman’s Ridge that his great great grandfather Ignatz settled in 1880 and made it a point to take his two sons Richard and Robert there when they were young to go squirrel hunting and share in the experience of what he loved as a child himself.
Gordon graduated from Logan High School in 1964, and the next year married his wife of 57 years, Carol Dawn Starr. They had two sons, the aforementioned Richard and Robert and would settle on Brices Prairie and later Mindoro. Dad was a selfless person who would do anything to help those around him, all while working long hours at a job he loved at G.Heileman brewing. Beyond his family, dad really loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing, trapping, looking for mushrooms, riding his bike and if he could do it with a dog at his side, even better. He especially loved the quiet places, going to Canada with John Stetter and Bill Schafer, or just appreciating the beauty of the flowages of Jackson County. In retirement when he wasn’t enjoying the quiet places, him and mom enjoyed the noisy places, taking many trips around the country usually involving a casino or two.
Gordon was preceded in death by his father Edgar, mother Pearl, wife Carol, and many, many four-legged friends. He is survived by sons, Richard and Robert, sister Bernice and many nephews and nieces.
No service is planned at this time.
if you wish to do something in his memoriam, just treat those around you with dignity and respect, that should be enough.
Special thanks go out to the staff at Springbrook Onalaska memory care unit for a difficult job done well.
Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family at this time.
