Greg D. Ammerman
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announced the passing of Greg D. Ammerman who passed away at home in Holmen on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
Greg was born on February 11th, 1958 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to Jack Ammerman and Barbara (Ammerman) Huber. He was raised on Brice Prairie and graduated from Holmen High School.
Greg was a go-getter who embraced life with energy, humor, and determination. He spent many years working in the concrete business before becoming a truck driver, a job that suited his hard-working spirit. He also proudly served as a volunteer firefighter and on the Holmen Village Board.
Greg loved the simple pleasures, riding his scooter through town (and out of town), sharing time with family and friends and playing bingo. He had a mischievous side and a contagious laugh and a stubborn resilience that saw him through many challenges. He defied the odds more than once, always on his own terms.
He is survived by his five children; Jenna (Luke) Colyer, Nick (Kari) Ammerman, McKenzie Ammerman, Jackson Ammerman, Preston Ammerman; as well as his grandchildren: Mason, Dominic, Ava, Sage, Duke and Weston.
Greg is also survived by his siblings: Vicky McCord, Sue Waldenberger, Sally (Tom) Granum, Jeff (Cindy) Ammerman, Michael Ammerman, Paul (Brian) Ammerman, Rhonda Mullen and many nieces and nephews and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
He is preceded in death by : Jack Ammerman, Barbara (Ammerman) Huber and step father Keith Huber and a brother, sister, brother in law and niece.
Greg’s life was full of character, laughter, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, humor, and deep devotion to all that he loved.
His visitation will be held Friday, June 6th from 4pm-6pm at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St., Onalaska,WI. Coulee Region Cremation Group.
Join us at Features in Holmen after the visitation for drinks and appetizers from 6:30 pm- 8:30 pm to celebrate his life, share memories and laughs as he would want it that way.
So sorry to hear of Greg’s passing. I have may memories of playing Volleyball, to watching our son’s play baseball together, and just recently at Bingo. My sincere condolences to all.

Why why why? Greg you were supposed to win the Blackout Bingo Thursday! That’s what you told me. I’m in total shock that you were chosen to leave this earth. I’m sure your mom has a whole list of chores for you. You are a very special man! God will bless you!

We are so sorry to hear this sad news. Our thoughts and prayers to all Greg’s family. I can just see Dad, Bruce and Greg giving each other sh** up there. His smile would light up a room.
