James Manley Buckholtz

James Manley Buckholtz, passed away May 7, 2013 in his sons home surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Winter WI to James E and Phyllis D (Rudesill) on October 11, 1937. He graduated from Winter High School in 1955. He then attended school in Milwaukee, and decided that was not for him. The following year he joined the Army with his brother Bob. He married Sally J (Prill) on October 17, 1959, and together raised two sons, Kelly and Brian. Jim worked many jobs over the early years of their marriage, and decided he missed Army life, so he joined the Army Reserve. In 1984, Jim went full time with the Army Reserves, and during that time Jim and Sally were able to move to both Texas and Michigan and call them home. After his retirement, Jim took on yet another career, a buyer for Ashley Furniture, and became active with the Onalaska American Legion.
Jim is survived by his two sons, Kelly (Cindy) of Onalaska, and Brian of Minneapolis. Five grandchildren, Josh (Shauna) of Reedsburg, Michael of West Salem, Megan (Wayne) Jorgensen, Michelle Volz both of Onalaska, and Amanda of Holmen; six great grandchildren, Audrina, Aria, Addison, Brenden, & Gracie Buckholtz, and Kalyn Jorgensen. Six brothers Robert, Jerry (Carol), Richard (Bernadette) Dennis (Carol), Ronald (Pam), David (Fawn), one sister Linda (Bob) Dye and sister in laws Evonne Bishop, Doris Burch, and brother in law Pete Prill; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sally, brother Tommy, two grandsons Scott and Jason, sister in law Leta Buckholtz, Lorrine Prill, and brother in law Gordon Bishop.
Jim loved spending time with people and meeting new people, in his last few months he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason Street, Onalaska. The Reverend Karyn Bodenschatz officiating, service at 11:00am, visitation from 9:30am, until time of service. Burial at the Onalaska Cemetery, with a lunch following at the Onalaska American Legion.

    Brian and Kelly; Sorry to hear about your father. Again I am sorry for not attending funeral services to personally offer condolences. I was out of town. John P. Ring, old neighbor, member Co. B 397 ENG BN USAR We live in Trempealeau now.
