Joan Brannan
Joan Brannan, 79, of Viroqua, passed away peacefully on October 13th, 2022 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby Wisconsin. She was born March 23rd, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Roscoe and Marie Withers. She married Joseph Brannan May 10, 1976.
Joan was a loving wife and mother. She spent her life helping those less fortunate through foster care, and her work with those with mental health issues and the disadvantaged.
She is survived by her brother John Withers, and children Ann Nakagawa (Lantz), Alan Lantz, Michael Brannan, Richard Brannan, Christopher Brannan, Patrick Brannan, Richard Shaker, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Roscoe and Marie, brother Glen, sister Doris and husband Joe.
Joan requested no formal services. The family will hold a celebration of her life in the spring of 2023. In lieu of flowers, Joan has requested friends and family make donations to charitable organizations that further human, civil, and women’s rights. The family appreciates the assistance of Norseland Nursing Home, St. Croix Hospice, and Coulee Region Cremation Group.
I hope that you and Joe have met up again and are dancing right now. I’m glad to have known you.
The world is less without you, Joan. I know Joe was super happy to greet you! The both of you were a dynamic couple. I know you will keep close to the family in order to protect and guide them.
