Joanne L. Butterfield Hanson

Joanne L. Butterfield Hanson, 75, of West Salem, Wisconsin, passed away Saturday, July 06, 2024 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. She was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on July 01, 1949 to James and Lois (Hampton) Butterfield.

Joanne graduated from Central High School in 1967 then tent to WWTC for early childhood 1,2,3 and 4, the fourth class was for director. She was an assistant teacher, teacher and director. She worked for Discovery Child Care for 10 years then went to ABC Helping Hands for a year. She had a love for children, and was told she was a gift from God for all children. Joanne was then employed by Wal-Mart as a sales associate and then became the operator. She worked in Onalaska for one year then transferred to Virginia Beach Super Center, where she was for six and a half years, before transferring to Florida where she worked for six months before she became disabled. She loved working as a fitting room attendant, answering phones and working directly with managers.

Survivors include her son, Raymond (Nicole) Hanson, two grandchildren, Katie and Andrew, sister-in-law, Bridget Butterfield, two nephews, Kevin and Ryan (Jessica) Butterfield, three great nephews, Zack Brumer, Alex, Colin Butterfield, one great niece Arianna Butterfield, five nieces, Tricia (Ben) Dimmick, Holly Subbert, Jenni (Mark) Stenberg, Ashley (Joey) Loefflad and Amanda Butterfield, five great nephews, Tristyn (Sabrina), Levi Subbert, Izaiah Moorehouse, Stetson, Memphis and Hendrix Loefflad, Greg Butterfield, and two great nieces, Jostlyn Richardson and Addelyn Dimmick.

She was preceded in death by her parents James and Lois (Hampton) Butterfield, James Hanson (Big Andy), Greg (Nina) Butterfield, and Micheal Butterfield.

Joanne wanted to extend her thanks to all that made her life so complete, especially those in Virginia Beach. Thanks for all the loves and laughs everyone gave her. Being called Aunt Jo and Grandma Jo made her life complete. SHE LOVED ALL OF YOU!!!

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at, Legacy Church, 1214 County Road PH, Onalaska, Wisconsin.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family at this time.

    Joanne, you will be missed. I always enjoyed working with you, you’re friendliness and joy of life was always present. We had a lot of fun here at Wal-mart and the laughs we shared were great. We kept in touch through Facebook and shared ourselves through posts and laughs. I miss you already.
