Obituary

John Charles Rafferty

November 4, 2016

John Charles Rafferty, 65, of La Crosse, died October 23, 2016, at the VA Hospice in Tomah.  He was born June 7, 1951, to John and Bernadine (Neustadter) Rafferty in Mauston, Wisconsin.  He served in the Air Force at Nellis AFB, Nevada, and Hahn AFB, Lautzenhausen.  He later received a printing degree from WTC.  He enjoyed working in Security at RTP Co. in Winona, MN, at the time of his illness.

John was someone who was always willing to lend a hand at any hour.  He provided continual care for homeless cats, even during his lymphoma radiation and chemo.  He enjoyed air shows, photography, knife collecting, staying informed on world leaders and events, reading, music, and backpacking trips along Lake Superior, the Tetons, and Canada.

John was preceded in death by his mother and father, and special friends Suzy and Domino.

Thank you to the compassionate healthcare teams at the Tomah VA Medical Center during his rapid decline from ALS. Per John’s wishes, there will be no services.  To honor him, take notice of abandoned animals who are bewildered, afraid, and hungry, and be kind to them.  Memorials may be given to Alley Cat Allies, Alter-Ations Clinic, and Tabby Town.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting with arrangements.

Condolences
