Obituary
John G. “JACK” Knebes, Jr.
John G. “Jack” Knebes, Jr., passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, at his home in Rockland. He was born November 16, 1939, in La Crosse to the late John and Leone (Pretasky) Knebes.
He married Christine M. Husmann, on May 12, 1986, in Oklahoma. Jack will always be known as a hard-working union man working in construction and a heavy machine operator until he retired. He worked hard on his farm with his wife of 38 years, always planting a huge garden, then canning all his own vegetables. Jack was renowned for his homemade wine, which he generously shared with family and friends. He was an exceptional cook, (Chris was not!), taking pride in preparing meals for himself and Chris, and hosting all the holidays on their beautiful farm, creating cherished memories. His unwavering faith and engaging spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Jack is survived by his wife, Chris; their children, Lisa (Ben) Davis, Kathy (Rod) Lobdell, John (Jonette) Knebes, Kimberly (Mark) Dummer, Amy (Kipp) Williamson, Matthew (Jenny) Knebes, Becky (Dave) Kyser and Nicky Wakeen; his sister, Kay Masak; his three cousins, Bud, Dave, and Mike Pretasky- whom Jack always referred to as his brother’s, 20 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10-11am, Monday, February 3, 2025, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in Bangor, WI. A memorial service will be conducted at 11am, Pastor Groth, officiating, with a luncheon following at the church. Inurnment will take place at Rockland Cemetery in Rockland, Wisconsin.
