John Peter Haney
John P. Haney, 66, of Stoddard passed away in his sleep Saturday, March 31, 2018.
He was born July 24, 1951, in La Crosse, WI. The son of Beulah (Schlict) Hanson. He married Linda (Bendel) Haney on June 19, 1976. They had one son, Richard Haney.
He entered into the US Marine Corps on October 10, 1968. He served two tours in Vietnam. During his service in the US Marine Corps he earned his Rifle Expert Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Vietnam Civic Actions Color (1st Class). He was Honorably Discharged with the rank of Sergeant on October 6, 1974.
John is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Richard (Melissa) Haney of Onalaska; grandkids, Devyn, Jayda, and Daylin; sisters, Bev (Ron) Esser, Jane Hanson, Rose Hanson, Susie Hanson, Beulah Hanson, Judy Hanson; sister-in-laws; brother-in-laws; and many neices and nephews. Also, an Aunt Janice Secor.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah (Schlict) Hanson; brother, Kenny Hanson; sisters, Lorena Haney and Rita Hanson; and mother-in-law, Loretta Bendel.
He worked for Yellow Checkered Cab, Burlington Northern Rail Road, Cooler Company, Trane Company, and he retired from Chart Energy & Chemical as a welder.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. He always had time for a game of cribbage or Eucher.
Services will be at Coulee Region Cremation Group in the Prairie Room, 133 Mason St. in Onalaska, on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 4-7.
My thoughts and prayers are with John’s entire family during this most difficult time. John was a wonderful, good hearted person who I will never forget. I have many good memories of him. I’m so sorry for your loss.
