Obituary
John Richard Trussoni
John Richard Trussoni, 83, of West Salem, WI passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 29, 1941, to David and Beatrice (Arttus) Trussoni in La Crosse, WI, and grew up on the family farm in Genoa, WI. He attended Riverside Grade School and Aquinas High School. John served in the U.S. Navy for four years and served 1 tour in Vietnam. John married Patricia Sauer, on January 11, 1969, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Birchwood, WI. They welcomed three children during their 55 years of marriage: Jennifer, Dustin, and Amanda. He worked various jobs before he found his calling as an independent insurance agent. He started his own agency, American Liberty Financial Services, where he was a successful insurance agent for over 40 years before retiring in 2022.
John’s greatest loves were spending time with his family, fishing, grilling, listening to music, watching all types and levels of sports on TV, participating in the winter sport of curling, and playing his guitar. He spent numerous hours on the river sharing his love of fishing, knowledge, and expertise with his children and grandchildren. Family traditions he created, that were excitedly anticipated yearly, were making homemade Italian Sausage and homemade canned sauerkraut where each of his children and grandchildren had an important role to play during these processes. His values of traditions, faith, and family were the pillars of his life and ones that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He will be missed beyond measure, but his infectious smile, love, and presence will remain alive in the hearts and memories of those who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; children Jennifer (Korey) Kinstler and their children Ethan, Logan, and Lauren, Dustin (Julie Siebecker) and their children Jaida, Ava, and Bailey, Amanda (Bob) Mitton and their children Boston and Roman, step-grandchildren Renee (Jacob) and Benjamin; brothers Albert (Marilyn) and Robert (Joleen) Trussoni; sisters Cecilia (Stanley) Berg, Beverly (John) Szymanski and Mary (Dean) Smerud; many sisters and brothers in law, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Joseph, Richard, Eugene, Daniel, Patrick, and Bernard Trussoni, sister Geraldine Kacena, sister-in-law Kay Trussoni, and mother-in-law Ann Sauer.
