Obituary
John Robert Schlicht
John Robert Schlicht 58 of La Crosse, WI gained his heavenly wings & eternal peace among the angels on January 1st, 2026, at Mayo Clinic health system. John was born February 9th, 1967, the youngest of five siblings to Isabel (Zamora) Schlicht & Stanley Carlisle Schlicht SR.
John attended First Lutheran school followed by Central high school afterwards becoming a highly skilled craftsman & woodworker like his father. John went on to marry the love of his life Valynn Skinner who he affectionately called “mama” on August 20th, 1994. The next year on August 28th, 1995, they welcomed their first daughter Savannah followed by their second daughter Mckenzie on July 20th, 1997. John was passionate about outdoor adventures & being in nature such as fishing, boating, camping. He also enjoyed watching UFC, sparring, riding & rebuilding motorcycles on much of his spare time. John’s family & friends meant the most to him. He was very keen to “loyalty & respect”. To know John was to love him whether it be his sarcastic & quick-witted humor with a big smile to follow or exceptional generosity, helping anyone in need however he could. John’s greatest sense of pride came from being a devoted husband, an adoring father & a loving grandfather. He’s already missed beyond measure. We take comfort he is reunited with his father Stanley SR along with other deeply missed family & friends in heaven.
John is survived by his “girls”, wife Valynn Schlicht of La Crosse, WI, Savannah (Taylor) Suhr of Onalaska, WI, & Mckenzie Schlicht of La crosse, WI, his grandchildren Cadence & Demi Suhr, Gerard (Bubba) Phillips & Amira Collins; his mother Isabel Schlicht, sisters Elizabeth (Jim) Roscovius, Karen (Tom) Nickelatti, Jeanette (Kevin) McCoy & brother Stanley Schlicht JR. He taught us the meaning of strength & selflessness. John’s love & wisdom will forever guide us as we carry his spirit in our hearts. May he fly high among the stars with the angels finding comfort in Gods arms.
Celebration of life to happen at a later date.
Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family at this time.

I just met John in the summer of 2025. He cracked a joke and from then on I knew he was one of a kind. The next thing I noticed was the love he and Val shared, they were very apparent that they had something special there. Val and girls I’m so sorry your going Thru this loss. I’m sending prayers for strength and peace for all who love John.
I babysat him with his brother and sisters. And live right across the street on 14-61.
Val, My Thoughts and prayers are with you and your children. So sorry for your huge loss. Thinking of you in the days to come.
