Obituary

Kathlyn (Kathy) I. Koch

December 22, 2025 | 5 comments

Kathlyn (Kathy) I. Koch, 75, of Holmen, WI was called home to Jesus on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Bethany Riverside.

Kathy was born on August 9, 1950, in La Crosse to Clarence and Marion Stewart. The youngest of 3 children, Kathy is survived by her sister, Sandy (Cliff) LeCleir, and brother, Rollie (Kay) Stewart.

April 21, 1979, Kathy married the love of her life, Steve Koch. A quick 9 months and 2 days later they welcomed Benjamin (Jennifer) Koch to the world. 4 years down the road, Molly (Robert) Heintz was born, and the Koch family was complete. Ben and Molly were Kathy’s heart. She loved them with her entire being, and that love was ALWAYS unconditional. They never had a bigger fan than their mama.

If there was one thing Kathy loved more than being a mom, it was being a grandma to Mikayla and Sophia Koch. The girls were the apple of Kathy’s eye. There was nothing she would not have done for them. The last words to ever pass her lips were, “I love you,” and she saved those words for Mikayla and Sophia- her absolute pride and joy.

Kathy’s faith in Jesus was the foundation her life was built on. This was evident in the compassion and grace she extended to both friends and strangers alike. She was the hands and feet of Jesus, spending her life in service to others. When you walked into Kathy’s home, you were family. She didn’t care who you were, where you’d been, or what you’d done- you were with her now and that’s all that mattered.

Kathy’s life was a beautiful testimony. We find peace in knowing she is with her heavenly father, being welcomed into the kingdom as he says to her, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, at Olivet Lutheran Church. Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 5:00 p.m. A meal will be served at the conclusion of the service, and the family warmly invites all who wish to attend.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family during this difficult time.

I really enjoyed getting to know Kathy. She was full of life and love even when she was not feeling her best. She spoke freely of her faith in God which I admired. I am so glad I was able to visit with her before her passing. I am so happy for what must have been a beautiful “going home”to the Lord.

Kathy was always one of my favorite people in this world. Her and her best friend Patty Dockham were both so fun together. I was privileged to work with them and had Kathy as a friend forever. She will be dearly missed. I hope her and Patty are having fun as always together. Love you Kathy. I know her most precious things on earth was her family. I was lucky to watch Steve and her courtship and lives together.God bless you all.
