Obituary
Kathryn Ann Clausen
Kathryn Ann Clausen died, surrounded by family on October 16, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, LaCrosse WI, at the age of 68.
Kathryn Ann Clausen (nee Wright) was born on a farm in Preston Township, Renville County, Minnesota, on August 23, 1945, to Woodrow and Carol (nee Koenig) Wright. While she was still a toddler, the family moved to Corvuso, Minnesota, where they farmed until 1952 when they moved to a farm south of Hutchinson, MN.
Kathryn began her education at Cosmos, Minnesota, then continued it at District #40, rural Hutchinson, before transferring to Hutchinson High School, where she was a member of the graduating class of 1963. Following high school graduation, she furthered her education at St. Cloud State College where she received an Associates in Science Degree, and certification as a Laboratory Technician from the Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis in March 1966.
Her adult working career began the following month in Audubon, Iowa, as a lab technician at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital. It was while working there that she met Darwin whom she married on October 14, 1967. After both working several years at the hospital in Audubon, they moved to Hutchinson in 1970, where Kathryn continued her career at the Hutchinson Community Hospital. In 1981, the Clausens moved to La Crescent, Minnesota, where Kathryn ran a child day-care for 23 years, until retiring in 2004.
Throughout her life, Kathryn developed a multitude of lasting friendships, many of which have continued since her elementary school days. She was a generous hostess; a woman ever ready to lend a helping hand; a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; a treasured family member.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Woodrow and Carol Wright; parents-in-law Raymond and Irene Clausen and John and Veneta Sorensen, and sister-in-law Ursula (Kenneth) Wright.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, Darwin, of La Crescent; son Karl (Susan) and their two children, Sydney and Kendall, Stewartville, Minnesota; daughter Gwen (Tony) Schroeder and their two children, Cameron and Elliott, La Crescent; one sister, Joyce (Harold) Hicks, of San Angelo, Texas; and brothers Jerry (Sandy)Wright, of Hutchinson, Kenneth Wright, of Caledonia, and Lee (Pat) Wright, of Hutchinson.
The family will receive friends at the LaCrescent United Methodist Church on Monday October 21 starting at 10am with a Memorial service (11am) and luncheon to follow.

I would say I have a hole in my heart, but that is not true. I would only have a hole in my heart if she had never been a part of my life. Because of all my memories I know my heart is overflowing with joy.

We are sorry for your loss. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family. May God wrap you in His loving arms and give you His peace…
Such wonderful memories of Kathie, especially at Christmas time. She could even sing the Danish song ‘Nu det jul igen’ but always enjoyed to hear her sing Silent Night. Will always remember her writing recipes or letters to people, she seemed so organized. I am sure she’s having a cup of coffee with grandma & mom talking about old times. Deepest sympathies to you all.
Piece of writing writing is also a excitement, if you
know then you can write if not it is complicated to write.
