Kenneth Jay Skoy
Kenneth J. Skoy, 59, of Mindoro passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at home in the loving care of his family, after a courageous 8-year battle with cancer.
Ken was born August 15, 1952 to Gordon J. and Vivian E. (Taylor) Skoy. He graduated from Onalaska High School in 1970. Ken joined the US Navy after school and served on the USS America aircraft carrier from May 19, 1972 through December 28, 1973. He then worked at the Heileman and City Brewery for 30 years. Ken married Catherine (Gilles) in Las Vegas, NV on August 30, 1988. He enjoyed watching the wildlife in his backyard, canoeing on the Black River, and watching the Packer games and shaking the dice at the Black Oak.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Cathy, his mother Vivian, brothers Jim (Joanne) of Onalaska, Gary (Carol) of Mindoro, sisters-in-law Nancy (Duane) Hanson of Onalaska and Paulette (Craig) Adair of Luck, WI, and the best nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews ever. He is also survived by the best friends a man could want. Ken was preceded in death by his father Gordon.
A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held at the Black Oak on County Road V, Holmen on September 10, 2011 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Gundersen Lutheran Hospice program in Ken’s name.
