Laurie Lynn Campbell Roberts

January 22, 2016 | 1 comment

Laurie Lynn Campbell Roberts, of La Crosse, WI, found her peace and passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016 surrounded by her friends and family.

Laurie was born on January 29, 1960 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Michael and Carole (Croasdale) Campbell.  Laurie grew up in La Crosse, and graduated from Central High School in 1978.  Laurie worked at a variety of jobs and found her passion in the healthcare industry.  She started her career in the medical records department at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital where she worked for several years.

Laurie was a hometown girl, so everyone was quite surprised when she opted to go on an adventure and move to Pasadena, CA.  While there, she earned her Medical Assistant degree and became the office manager at Alpha Medical, where she met her current husband, William (Billy) Whitmore.  She resided in CA for 20 years before returning to her hometown to be closer to her mother.  Laurie then came full-circle as she began working as a Medical Assistant at Gunderson Lutheran Clinic on the Cardiac Unit.

Laurie was the master of all things trivia.  She participated in and won many “tournaments”—many urged her to try out for jeopardy.  She had a love for doing crossword puzzles, making jewelry, rock collecting, and cross stitch.  Laurie was especially fond of music, and was quite the guitar player and song-writer in her youth.  She was an avid collector of music and had thousands of albums.

Surpassing her love of trivia and music was her love for the Green Bay Packers.  She eagerly purchased stock in the public offering and was fanatical about number 4!

Laurie was passionate about and committed to her role as auntie to her nieces, Lindsay and Madison.  She could be counted on for good-natured banter, intellectually-stimulating conversations, interesting advice, humorous stories, and genuine care and love.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and half-brother, Nicholas.

She is survived by her sister Dawn Kosako; brother Steve Campbell (Leslie); nieces Lindsay Clement (Luke) and Madison Campbell; half-brother Quinn Campbell; half-sister Hillary Campbell; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Special thanks to the team at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital as well as the team at Western Wisconsin Cares and the Coulee Region Cremation Group.  Special gratitude to Gunderson Lutheran chaplain, Amy, and nurse, Rita, whose display of authentic care and compassion were palpable as Laurie passed from this world.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

Condolences

I knew Laurie thru working at Gundersen Health Systems. She had worked with my wife in the file room at the time. She was always a happy go lucky person and fun to be around.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
