Marilyn Joyce (Adams) Tovar

It is with heavy Hearts that we announce Marilyn Joyce (Adams) Tovar age 92, has gone on to her final Eternal Life. She will now be reunited with her one and only Love of her life her Husband Celestino (Joe) Tovar.

Born on May 17, 1931, passing on July 20, 2023. She was born in La Crosse then moved to Onalaska in her younger years. When Marilyn met Joe, they moved to Texas and returned to Wisconsin in 1974.

She was a wonderful Homemaker for her family and took great pride in caring for Joe, daughter Paula, son David and many pets throughout the years.

She wore many different hats in her lifetime which included Proofreader at the La Crosse Tribune, running a State Licensed Daycare for multiple years. She was an adventurer which consisted of riding the Minnetonka Boat Trolley, driving to Colorado for a wedding, Madison’s Farmers Market, going to the Taste of Madison, Cow Chip Days, camping in Rio and Somerset, tubing the Apple River, trying to hang siding on the family’s cabin in Texas, making Tamales, and Lefsa. She also visited Boston, Washington D.C., Florida, Mexico and Texas many times.

She leaves behind a daughter Paula Tovar (husband Dave Gorman), a son David (Concepcion Escoffie) Tovar and from her previous marriage, Charles, Lynda, and Susan. Grandchildren Tamika and Sophia Tovar/Gorman, Miranda (Jordan) Schams, Jarred Johnson, Andrew Tovar, and 6 grandchildren. She also leaves behind brothers-in-law Larry Mosher and Bob Lovejoy, sister-in-law, Marilynn Adams along with many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Trisha Tovar for her assistance as Marilyn’s healthcare POA.

Preceded in death by her husband Celestino, a daughter, Leslie, all sisters and brothers and in laws. She is also the last of the Adams original 9. She will be sadly missed. Her Soul may be in Heaven, but her Spirit lives on in us.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July  27th, 2023 at 11:00 am with a visitation from 10:00 am until the service at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St., Onalaska.

    My beautiful loving Auntie has earned her wings ?️. I have stayed with beautiful memories of the last time we visited and what a great couple of days was spent together. Rest in paradise with my uncle Tino ?. Condolences to the family to find comfort knowing she’s resting peacefully ?

      Virginia, Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. I have a few pictures that I put up on the boards at the service of all us Cousins on the front porch in Texas. It brought a lot of memories back all good and sad.
