Obituary

Marion Johanna Hoch

October 5, 2018

Marion Johanna Hoch (nee Kreibich) born January 17, 1922, married to William R. Hoch on March 5, 1946, died on Thursday, October 4, 2018, leaving their only daughter Xenika Barbara (nee Barbara Louise Hoch) Mrs. James Poehling. In addition, she is survived by two nieces; Jan White of New York and Carin Kent of Colorado; one sister-in-law, Bertha Hoch of La Crosse. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olga and Rudolph Kreibich; brother, Arthur; sister-in-law, FSPA Sister Elizabeth Hoch (formerly Maxilinda); brother-in-law, Erwin Hoch; and two nephews, Keith and Gene Kreibich.

A long-time employee of La Crosse Rubber Mills, at her retirement she was a jack supervisor, popular with her supervisees, enough so that she regularly breakfasted with the group and traveled with some of them, notably an Alaskan Cruise. She celebrated her 75thbirthday in Ho Chi Min City, Viet Name with her son-in-law, James Poehling, her daughter, Xenika, and a companion from the Mills.

In her later years, after she moved to assisted living quarters, she found support and companionship from Mary Jo Rathman. Even though she was nearing total blindness from the effects of diabetes, she still was knitting mittens and tending to plants in the solarium across the hall from her apartment. Then, one night, confused, she fell in her apartment and broke her shoulder. The last years were spent at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center where she knew the words to all the old tunes, although singing was not her forte.

There will be a private burial at Catholic Cemetery where she will be laid to rest near her husband. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

Condolences
