Obituary

Marshal Reid Harris

June 26, 2020

Marshal Reid Harris, 90, known to many as ‘Mississipp’, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully in his home on June 24, 2020. Marshal was born on March 29, 1930, in Thaxton, Mississippi. He moved to La Crosse from New Albany, Mississippi, after serving in the Army. In December 1953 he married Margot McCue. They enjoyed a 66-year marriage full of laughing, telling stories, watching old Westerns, and cheering on their grandchildren from the bleachers at sporting events. Besides his family, his love was fishing with his fishing partner Pat Coughlin. He loved their time in the outdoors fishing and watching nature at all their favorite fishing spots.

Marshal worked as a welder for Trane for 36 years and was also a part-time bartender.

He is survived by his wife Margot, their six children Margie (Bruce) Bartschenfeld, Reid (Michelle Hall) Harris, Al (Marye) Harris, Bob (Sue Snell) Harris, Kelly Greene, and Chris (Lori) Harris. He is also survived by his grandchildren Bruce, Amanda, Reid (Suzy), Jolene, Wes, Leah (John), Chelsy (Travis), Dylan (Brittany), Sam (Jenna), Cody, Tara, and Jordan, his great-grandchildren, and his dear nieces and nephews in Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his brothers, sisters, son-in-law Steve Greene, daughter-in-law Jo Harris, and granddaughter Heather Harris.

The family would like to thank Mayo Hospice of La Crosse for their kindness.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the North American Squirrel Association (nasasquirrel.org), which helps community members who are elderly or have disabilities enjoy the outdoors, or another meaningful charity of your choice.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Condolences
