Obituary
Martina “Marty” Davis
Martina “Marty” Davis, 59, of La Crosse, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, at home surrounded by her children, her beloved puppy Aspen, and grandpup Milo.
Marty was born on October 11, 1966, in Mellen, WI, to Carol Same and James Fisher, where she spent her childhood years. When reflecting on that time in her life, Marty often lovingly shared stories about the days she spent on her aunt and uncle’s cattle farm with her cousins, as well as the mischief she and her friends would get into around town as self-proclaimed latchkey kids. Marty had a wild, free spirit, and that spirit was evident in the many stories she shared with her children over the years.
In 1990, Marty moved to La Crosse, WI, where she attended Western Technical College to pursue her nursing degree. She went on to become a phenomenal nurse at Gundersen Lutheran, where she was widely admired for her patient advocacy and the care, compassion, and empathy she showed to every patient and colleague she encountered.
Nursing was Marty’s first true passion, but in 1996 and again in 1999, she found her greatest calling in life, becoming a mother to her daughter, Brena, and her son, Brett. Marty brought the same devotion, kindness, and compassion she showed her patients into her role as a mother.
Marty was a loving and dedicated parent who made growing up feel like magic for her children. She spent hours creating custom birthday cakes, sewing Halloween costumes, decorating the house for every holiday, and inventing silly games just to make her children feel loved and special. Marty poured every ounce of her love into Brena and Brett, and her unwavering support and encouragement profoundly shaped who they are today.
Marty was preceded in death by her mother, Carol, and her father, James. She is survived by her two children, Brena and Brett, and her son-in-law, Anthony.
A celebration of Marty’s life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St., Onalaska, WI.
Marty lived with strength, loved with compassion, and cared deeply for everyone she met. Her laughter, kindness, and free spirit made the world brighter. Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave continues to guide us every day.”
Coulee Region Cremation Group is currently assisting the family.

I went to Nursing school with Marty and we graduated together. I have fond memories of the wild child she was. Always so beautiful and sweet. We both were females but used male spelling of nicknames. I am sorry to hear of her passing.
I met Party Marty as we called her at a cabin party we use to have with the Krause family. I was probably 9-10 when I met her and always looked forward to seeing her. She will be missed. My condolences to the family.
