Mary Alice “Shiftar” Mc Call

Mary Alice “Shiftar” Mc Call, 77, of Bangor, passed away on hospice care at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse on April 27, 2011.

She was born on January 13, 1934 to Fletcher and Margurite (Bohringer) Brodt. She married Joseph Shiftar on November 17, 1951 in La Crosse. She later married Howard E. Mc Call.

 

Mary Alice enjoyed working for the family businesses; Grand Crossing Dairy, Shiftar Brother’s Auto Salvage, and later she owned and operated Nature’s Hue Health Foods Store in La Crosse. She liked gardening, needle work and reading. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and teaching her grandsons how to cook.

 

She is survived by her son, John (Linda) Shiftar, grandson, Jason (Kristine) Shiftar and great-grandsons, Andrew and Logan Shiftar; daughter, Mary Jo (Kevin) Kenyon, grandsons, Jordan, Colton, Dalton Kenyon; niece, Margaret “Dee Jayne” (Paul) Thalmann and her family.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Shiftar; daughter, Margurite Ella; brother, William (Elaine) Brodt.

 

The family would like to thank the staff at Chia Transportation, hospice caregivers at Gunderesen Lutheran Medical Center, the Onalaska dialysis center at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, her many special friends she met through dialysis, and the staff and friends at Club 16 for their support.

 

Private Services will be held at a later date. Coulee Region Cremation Group at www.couleecremation.com is assisting the family.
