Mary Ann Kathryn Rogers
Mary Ann Kathryn Rogers, 90, of West Salem, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Onalaska Care Center. She was born on March 9th, 1928 to Martin and Irene (Schams) Hess. She married George, the love of her life, on June 1, 1948 at St Joseph’s Ridge Catholic Church. They celebrated 67 years of marriage and were life long members of St. Leo the Great Church in West Salem. Dancing was a huge part of their lives.
Mary Ann was a 1945 graduate of Aquinas High School. She retired from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse as a secretary in the Department of Extended Education. She was also a 50+-year member of HCE (Home and Community Education). Mary Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Not only did she love to garden, she also liked to cook and beat George in a good game of cribbage. Mary Ann cherished her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Mary Ann is survived by her five children, Jane (Lenny) Liebl, and their children, Larry, Becky (Rick), Katey (Shane); David (Wanda) Rogers, and their children, Emily and Adrianna; Mark (Laurie) Rogers, and their children Justin (Krystal), Adam (Jessica), Lisa; Tim (Tracey) Rogers, and their children, Kyle (Jen) and Kayla (Mitch); Sara (Rob) Stelloh, and their children, Chelsie, Derek (Barbara) and Nick; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband George; son, John; brothers Daniel Hess, Paul (Dorothy) Hess; sister Lucille (Herb) Schmidt;
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at St. Leo the Great Church, 210 W. Hamlin St., West Salem, with visitation prior to the service at 8:30 a.m. The Rev. R. Kennedy and Deacon Bob Zietlow will officiate.
The family wishes to extend a thank you to the awesome staff at Onalaska Care Center. Memorials may be given to Place of Grace, La Crosse, or La Crosse Warming Center for the Homeless.
Jane and family, Ike and I are so sorry to hear that your Mom has passed away. She ‘s in good hands now and will be forever at peace. RIP Mary Ann.
