Mary Jo Scheel

Mary Jo Scheel, 81, of LaCrosse, Wisconsin died, Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Bethany Riverside Care Center where she had resided for the past two years with her Husband John M. Scheel. She was born June 11, 1934 in Preston, Kansas to Alva and Faye Fisher. She married John M. Scheel on October 21, 1955

Mary was a long time resident of La Crosse where she lived since leaving her childhood home in Kansas at the age of 21. She received her degree at the University of Lacrosse and worked as an Administrative Secretary at L. B. White Company for 25 plus years retiring in 2001.  She loved to read and play card games and take day trips to some of the surrounding casinos. She enjoyed spending time with family.

She is survived by her husband, John M. Scheel; son, Michael L. Scheel; grandson, David Scheel of Onalaska; step grandson, Derek (Arley) Armstrong; and their children, Maya and Ryan of Holmen; daughter, Jane (Mike) Thorne; and grand daughter, Rachel Thorne; step grandsons, Donovan Sisler, and Dustin Sisler of Pekin, IL; sister, Pat (Clyde) Hall of Bonney Lake, Washington; sister in law, Billie Scheel of Sun Prairie WI; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; in laws, Carl and Evelyn Scheel; brothers in law, Carl Jr. (Catherine) Scheel, and James Scheel.

To follow her wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service.

The family is most grateful for the caring and professional staff at Bethany Lutheran Riverside, who went above and beyond for Mary.

    So sad to hear of Mary passing. I have fond memories of working with her at L. B. White. Mary had a wit and charm about her that I’ll always remember.
