Nancy Louise (nee Jande) Thompson, age 80, passed away peacefully at home in Onalaska, WI, on July 5, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was a beloved mother, wife, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Nancy was born on September 4, 1943, in La Crosse, WI, and graduated from Onalaska High School in 1961. Nancy worked in the printing industry for many years, working at DuraTech Screen Printing for most of her career prior to retiring in 2002.

More than anything, Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and close friends.

In her free time, Nancy enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, occasional casino trips, and watching her grandkids play soccer. She also volunteered at the Onalaska Community Center in her retirement.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, James R. Thompson; daughter Deborah (Ernie) Tourville; grandchildren Aaron (Stephanie) Tourville, Addie (Alex) Wuensch and Aric (Ali) Tourville; great-grandchildren Trace, Everett, Tatum and Berkley; stepchildren James M. (Ruth) Thompson, Michael (Tracy) Thompson, Julie Thompson and Lori (Marty) Wallace and many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Richard (Judy) Traister and sister Sharon (Curt) Schmidt.

Nancy’s family would like to thank Gundersen Health System’s Oncology Dept. for their excellent care and support through her cancer journey. They would also like to thank Nikki and the entire Gundersen’s Hospice program for their excellent and compassionate care and support.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Hi Jim. Just saw the notice about Nancy’s passing and we wanted to say how sorry we are to hear of her passing. Nancy was one of those people that the day you met her, she made you feel like you had been friends for years. Nancy was a very kind and funny person. She always had a smile on her face and she always looked her very best-even when you two went fishing as you told the story about her not being able to go out fishing until she had her hair done and her make up on just right to catch a fish-we all laughed, especially Nancy! You and Nancy were made for one another. Nancy will be missed for many reasons by so many people. Just wanted to say that we are sorry and that you are in our prayers n thoughts.
