Norma Jean Wurzel, 77, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 6, 2012 at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse.

She was born on August 19, 1934 to Lawrence and Charlotte Cross. She married George J. Wurzel on November 15, 1955 in La Crosse.

 

Norma was an avid sports fan and faithful follower of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Milwaukee Brewers. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing cards and family gatherings. She always looked forward to meeting her special high school girlfriends for lunch each month. Her grand daughters and great grandchildren were also a great source of joy in her life.

 

Norma is survived by her loving and devoted husband, George; daughters, Kelly (Wayne) Beaudette of Eau Claire, WI, Kimberlee (Patrick) Heier of Wausau, WI, Becky (Johnny) Ragsdale of Searey, AR; 2 grand daughters, Kendra Grant and Shelby (Andrew) Kolar all of Eau Claire, WI; 2 great-grandchildren, Evelyn Rose Kolar and Grayson George Kolar. She is also survived by her brother, John (Elaine) Cross of Osceola, WI; 2 sisters, Bobbie Murray of Kenosha, WI, and Sandy (Ted) Ellsworth of Sycamore, IL; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry; and sisters, Dorothy, Joyce, Helen and Kathy.

 

The family would like to thank the staff at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center for taking such kind and gentle care of Norma and also to the doctors and staff at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center for the excellent care given to Norma during her cancer treatment and subsequent stay.

 

Per Norma’s wishes, there will be no visitation or memorial service. Donations in Norma’s name may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
