Norman R. Foss, 83, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Friday, November 25, 2022 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. He was born on May 7, 1939 in Independence, WI. to Norman Sr. and Jurdice (Olsen) Foss. Norman married the former Margaret Mish on May 7, 1966 at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. Among his many hobbies include woodworking, fishing, hunting, baking, reading and gardening. Norman is survived by his wife Margaret M. Foss, son, Bradley (Lynn) Foss, two sisters; Joyce Rickard and Janet (Fred) Staff, two brothers Jim (Judy) Foss and Richard (Linda) Foss, grandchildren; Joshua (Beth) Breitung, Christopher St. Jacque, Amanda St. Jacque (fiancee’ Alec Baumer), great-grandchildren; Pearson Breitung and Kinsley Baumer, god daughters; Anne Marie Emerson and Carol Jean Pederson, and his wonderful loving companion Buffy. He was preceded in death by his parents Norman Sr. and Jurdice Foss, a brother Harold Foss, two sisters Pat and Elaine Foss. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Thursday, December 1, 2022 at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish, 36028 Osseo Road, Independence, WI. The Reverend George Thayilkuzhithottu will be the celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of Mass at the church. Memorials may be directed to the charity of choice in his name. Please accept our sincere sympathy during this difficult time. I remember Norman and his green 57 Pontiac. We were neighbors and played with Norman’s younger brothers and sisters. Always was a good time. Just read the obit tonight, otherwise would have been at the funeral.
