John D. “Jack” “Rags” Renstrom

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, John (“Jack”, “Rags”) David Renstrom, 82, of Onalaska, Wi passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2017 doing what he loved best, spending time with his friends. Jack was born in LaCrosse County to George and Mildred (Lambert) Renstrom on April 22, 1935. He married Helen Fritsvold on Feb. 2, 1963 in Onalaska, WI.

He is survived by his wife Helen, of Onalaska, sister Bettie Haines of Seattle WA, his daughter Lori Flandrena of St. Croix Falls, WI, his son Jay (Beth) Renstrom of Sturgeon Bay, WI, and two grand daughters, Kristina and Kamille Flandrena.

He was preceded in death by his Father, George, mother Mildred, brother Donald, and sister Carol Evenson.

Jack was a lifelong resident of Onalaska. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 139, and employed by Pertzsch Construction, Modern Crane and for many years, Mathy Construction. He was also a volunteer member of the Onalaska Fire Department and an honorary member of the American Legion, Post 336.

Jack’s hobbies included golfing, fishing, playing cards which included euchre and cribbage, an avid woodworker, soup maker for many hunting camps, and volunteer at the American Legion Post 336. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be sadly missed by all those that knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 25th at 11:00 am at the First Lutheran Church in Onalaska.  Pastor Jason Stanton will officiate.  Visitations will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Coulee Region Cremation Group, Onalaska, and one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
