Patricia “Pat” A. Byom, of Ettrick, 74, died peacefully on June 6, 2020 at Grandview Care Center in Blair, WI.  She was born on June 13, 1945 in Champaign, IL to Dave and Betty (Carlie) Hammes.  She was raised in La Crosse and attended Aquinas Catholic Schools; she graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing.

Pat married Jerry Byom on November 5, 1966.  They settled in Ettrick.  Pat enjoyed volunteering for little league, camping, bowling, and teaching CCD while raising their five children.  Pat was proud of her nursing career for 27 years at TCHCC, the last 7 years as Director of Nursing. Some of her many hobbies include gardening, canning, cooking for a crowd, reading, knitting, fishing, and cheering on her grandkids at sporting events.

Pat is survived by her husband, Jerry, of 53 years; children, Randy (Michelle), Beth (Shawn) McConnell, Brad (Jamie Smith), and daughter-in-law, Angie; grandchildren, Michael (Kalli) Schock, Gary McConnell, Jamie (Thomas) Miller, Megan (Paul Olson) Hovre, and Ben and Zach Byom; great-grandchildren, Ledger, Slayter, Wyatt, and Carter; as well as siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Jason and Curt; parents; in-laws, Roland and Doris Byom; nephews, and a niece.

Per Pat’s wishes, no services will be held.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
