Patricia Jean Nickles
Patricia Jean Nickles (nee Brendum) passed away after a short aggressive illness, surrounded by her family. Pat was born on December 19, 1941 in La Crosse, WI.
She graduated from Central High School, Class of 1959. Pat met John (Nick) Nickles Sr. & after only 6 months of dating, they were married on October 1, 1960. They knew it was a lasting love. They celebrated just shy of 60 years of marriage together (cut short by John’s passing 10 days earlier). Their marriage welcomed 5 children, Lori (John) Ungrodt, John Nickles Jr, Joseph (Kris) Nickles, Lisa (Rick) Coryell and Lesley (Lee) Thompson.
Pat worked various jobs, but the family business’ always came first, from cleaning and painting to keeping the books, Pat did whatever task that was needed. In the early years Pat attended every basketball game, track meet, choral concert, swim meet, band concert, etc that her kids were involved in, never missing a single event. She was on various bowling leagues for many years. Pat was an avid cross stitcher making 100’s of bell pulls for family and friends. She also loved jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, & playing double, triple (or more) solitaire races.
In later years, she always looked forward to her friend’s regular luncheons or dinners out to catch with them. Pat was blessed with 13 grandchildren, and 8 (almost 9) great grandchildren.
Pat is preceeded in death by her parents Polly & Woody Tollerud, brother Dick, husband Nick, and son John Jr.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Monday, July 7th, 2025 at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St., Onalaska from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Burial will take place at the Onalaska City Cemetery. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
