Paul Edward Klingelhofer Jr., 75, of La Crosse passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 8^th, 2016 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital surrounded by his family. Paul was born on January 5^th, 1941 to Paul Klingelhofer Sr. and Helen (Maslakow) Klingelhofer.

Paul graduated from Madison West High School in 1959. Paul then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1959 where he proudly served as a Paratrooper in the 101^st Airborne Division until 1965.

Paul graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater in 1969. He was then employed by Lacrosse County Human Services from 1969 until his retirement in 1997.

Paul enjoyed spending his time gardening, prospecting, working on his wooded acres in Desoto, WI and spending time with his family and granddaughters. Paul’s biggest pet project was working as a foreman for the US Army National Guard Corps of Engineers where he helped to supervise construction the original Hillview Pond. Paul was also an active member of the Vietnam Veterans Association.

Paul is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Mary (Doyle) Klingelhofer; and his three children: Eric and his wife Betsy of La Crosse and their four daughters Samantha, Allison, Morgan and Makenna; his son Jeffrey of La Crosse; and his daughter Laura of Portland, Oregon.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, March 18^th, 2016 at 5:00 pm at Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason St., Onalaska. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until the time of the service also at the funeral home.  The family requests donations to the La Crosse Area Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans Association in lieu of flowers.
