It is with great sadness, we announce, Paul passed away suddenly on May 9, 2025.
Paul is survived by his wife, of 32 years Jan; his sister, Joan Jahimiak; his brother, David Jahimiak (Mary Gohlike); his sister, Bonnie Cummings (Bob); stepdaughter, Anne-Marie Barrow, many cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Paul also took great pride and being godfather to Heather and Jonathan.
Paul was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ralph and Doc Jahimiak.
Paul lived for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, and trapshooting with David and Bob. In earlier years, pheasant hunting in Iowa with his dog Andy, and his best friend Don. For many years Paul and Jan travel to Mazatlán and Ixtapa, Mexico where they met lifelong friends. When Paul retired, they moved to Silver City, New Mexico, where they built a home and lived on a small ranch with lots of animals. After many years, Paul and Jan returned home to the La Crosse area to be near family close friends making their home on Lake Onalaska, enjoying the everyday wildlife and beautiful sunsets.
Paul was a man of “quick wit” and personality not to be forgotten. Rest in peace Pablo… as you are now out of pain. Sorely missed, but “never forgotten.”
Per his wishes, no funeral will take place.
RIP, Paul! You will be sorely missed in the neighborhood.
My condolences to his wife Jan and the Jahimiak family. He has and will always have a special place in my heart. RIP Paul.
Paul it saddened me to hear of your passing. Although we were friends for only a short time you treated me as a life long friend. I enjoyed talking with you and learning of your life story and all your crazy adventures.
Our sympathy to the family. May your good times and happy memories ease your pain at this time.
-Chris & Mary Countryman (Bob Cummings’ sister & brother in law)
Dad, thank you for many years of smiles and laughter. Me and the boys will always remember your unique style and fun quirks. May you now rest in gentle peace. ❤️
Paul was a character and we had hunting and work in common for many years. I was his supervisor at work for a bunch of years and he kept me hopping 🙂🙂. He loved that dog Andy and talked about him like he was the son he never had. Hope you are doing well Jan. Paul is back in the marsh with Andy and waiting for you to join him.
My sympathy to Paul’s family. Paul and I were friends way back in the early 70s. When Paul’s family moved to Indiana, another friend and I drove down to visit him. Although I hadn’t been in touch with Paul recently, I have many fond memories of our friendship.
Rest in peace old friend.
