Phyllis “Chris” Koegel

Chris Koegel, 92, of Onalaska/ La Crescent passed away Sunday, Sept 9, 2018 at Gundersen Lutheran surrounded by her family.  She was born February 26, 1926 in Greene, IA to Herbert and Dorothy Rodney.  On May 15, 1954 she married the love of her life, Edward Koegel in Chicago, IL  They had one son, Edward (Kelly) Koegel, Jr. of Onalaska.  She is also survived by two children from a previous marriage, Tom Christensen, San Tan Valley  AZ  and Karen Christensen.  Two grandchildren,  Alexandra Koegel, Fort Collins, CO and Aaron (August) Christensen, Driggs, ID and two twin great granddaughters Olive and Lilly.  Bud and Chris split their time between Marco Island, FL and La Crescent, MN for many years until they moved to Eagle Crest North, Onalaska and ultimately, to their sons home on Brice Prairie.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, September 15, 2015 in the Prairie Room at Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason St. Onalaska with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of the service.  Pastor Lisa Shank will officiate.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

God looked around his garden and found an empty place.

He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.

God’s garden must be beautiful; He always takes the best.

He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb,

so He closed your weary eyelids and whispered, “Peace be thine.”

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone, 

for part of us went with you the day God called you home.
