Obituary
Richard Loren Hellerud
Richard Loren Hellerud, 55 of La Crosse, unexpectedly passed away on November 13, 2024.
He was born on May 22, 1969 to James and Marjorie Hellerud.
Rich was known to some as “Ninja Rich” for his love for Bruce Lee movies and his collection of swords, throwing stars and nun chucks. He taught his youngest brother, and his friends how to defend themselves. Quiet by nature, Rich would suddenly be standing next to you and when you’d jump in surprise, he would laugh and walk away.
Rich had a love for 70’s and 80’s heavy metal and hard rock music. He would spend hours watching MTV and introduced his little sister to what he considered “good music”. He would also be seen riding his bike, often with a case of PBR in his hands.
A jack of all trades, Rich most recently worked for Harter’s Quick Clean Up with his older brother.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Danielle Bathke; his father, James Hellerud; his brothers, Pete (Karen) Hellerud and Matt Hellerud; his sister, Angel (Jason) Benrud; and his many nieces and nephews: Jeff (Jerrika), Jared (Christian), Jason, Shana, Nathan (Kaitlin), Cheyenne (Justin), Damond (Anna), Chariell, Matthew, Isaac (Anna), Aleena, Thomas, Haley, Megan, and Lily (Katarina). He is also survived by five great-nieces and two great- nephews, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was proceeded in death by his mother, Marjorie Hellerud, Grandparents, Eva and Claire Revels and Lilybelle and Robert Secor and 1 great niece.
Stop by and share your memories and stories of Rich at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason Street Onalaska, WI. November 22nd, 2024, from 1pm-3pm.

To Jim and loved ones of Richard
Bill and I were so shocked and saddened at Richards passing. He is at peace now after quite a couple hard years of health issues. To Jim as a father and Danielle as his partner and care giver of late, we are thinking of you during this difficult time.
Bill and Jackie Pritchard
Dear Richard, I was very sad when your Uncle Rocky called me, while he was wiping tears from his eyes, to tell me you have “gone home”. You left way too early kiddo. I will always cherish the memories of the fun we had, you, me and Uncle Rock when we were in our 20’s and you lived with us. After he told me I went to my old photo album and I only had one picture with you in it. We were at Nelson park throwin the frisbee around and of course you had a PBR in your hand, LOL I know you hate cameras but I got one picture of you and him flipping me off on the hood of my Nova, LOL I do have another pic from that day but only Uncle Rocky’s and your beers are in it. You guys climbed a tree to hang them up there, LOL You were a good sh** and Funny. Thanks for the memories. My deepest sympathies to your family. My thoughts are prayers are with them during this difficult time. RIP Richard.
