Richard Russell Benson, 56, of Winona, died on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI, with family at his side.

Rick was born March 15, 1955, in Winona to Bernard and Norma (Russell) Benson. 

He graduated from Winona Senior High School, went on to earn an art degree from Winona State University, and worked many jobs over the years, the last being at Gold’n Plump in Arcadia.  Rick enjoyed eating out, gardening, and fishing the most.  As a youngster, he had fun camping with his brothers and playing ball at the West End Recreation Center.

Rick is survived by his mother, Norma of Winona; brothers, David (Gena) Benson of Winona, and Robert (Michelle) Benson of Rosemount, MN; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Benson of Morrisonville, NY; nieces, Brita (Mark) Hayes and Marni; and nephews, Jason, Andrew, and Bradley.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bernard and brother, Michael.

Rick’s family will celebrate his life privately.

Cremation has been entrusted to Coulee Region Cremation Group.
