Obituary

Robert “Bob” Paul Kirby Jr.

May 26, 2023 | 10 comments

Robert  (Bob) Paul Kirby 60, of Trempealeau, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2023 at his home in Trempealeau. He was born on July 11, 1962 and married Shirley Bergerson on May 10, 1989 in Las Vegas NV.

Bob worked for his family business (commercial fishing) since grade school. His mother and father owned a bar in DeSoto which he bartended when he was old enough. After marrying his soulmate Shirley, he left fishing so he could be with his family instead of being gone all week and home only on the weekends. He started truck driving for ASA in La Crosse and soon became a supervisor. From there Bob worked for American Freightways and retired in 2020 from Fed-Ex freight.

There was only one word for Bob and that was love, the love he had for his family and friends. Bob’s garage was his man cave, no vehicles allowed, only table, chairs, and his two slot machines. Heat in the winter and AC in the summer. The door was always open for family and friends to stop, and he also loved his country music. Whenever Bob and Shirley went downtown to either the vets bar or muddy waters, he would fill the jukebox and visited with anyone whether he knew them or not. Bob loved life.

Bob was survived by his wife Shirley, two sons Shannon and Arik (Casey), mother Jean, siblings Jeannie (Denny), Kim, Robin, Raymond (R.D.) (Lisa). Grandchildren, Jeriee, Shannen, Cody, Heath, Caleb, Tyler and Amara. Great grand children Sarena, Sophia, Sadie, Sylus, Serenity and Carson. He was also survived by his sister in law Janet, brothers in law Milton (Glenda), Ronald (Donna), Michael (Charlene), Clark (Lonny) and lots of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob is preceded in death by his father Robert Sr, brother James, grandson Joseph, grandparents Raymond and Opal Boardman, James and Bertha Kirby.

A visitation will be held on  Sunday, June 4th, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St., Onalaska with a luncheon immediately following at the Trempealeau VFW.

Our sincere condolences to everyone that was a part of Bob’s life. Bob will be deeply missed by many but will never be forgotten. In the difficult days and nights ahead may the many memories of his life give you comfort. Something we have personally found to be of great comfort are the thoughts expressed in the Bible at John 5:28 “all those in the memorial tombs will hear his (Jesus) voice and come out “. May God Jehovah comfort you during this sad time in your life.
