Robert “Bob” Wick
Robert “Bob” Jon Wick, 66, of Onalaska, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 6, 1948 to Adolph Jr and Alma (Niedfeldt) Wick. He married Peggy Erickson on July 12, 1969 in West Salem, WI.Bob was a trapper, hunter and fisherman in his younger years. He believed in individual liberty, freedom and responsibility. An avid gardener, Bob grew all of the family’s vegetables. Together with his wife, he froze or canned what could not be eaten fresh. He raised rabbits for meat and goats for milk and meat. Bob had several jobs over the years. He managed a gas station, poured and troweled cement and did other construction work. Bob managed a group home and his own painting business, and also prepared taxes for a number of years. During the last 15 years he was involved in volunteer work. He worked at the Salvation Army food pantry. He also bought the rebate items each week at Menards and donated them to the Salvation Army. He read to a blind man each week and played cards with people at the Willows Assisted Living Center every Friday. He always enjoyed tending his yard and gardens. Bob had a lifelong interest in astronomy, which he shared with his wife and children. He will be missed by his family and many others. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter, Erica (Bruce) Tjelta and their children, Miranda, Elise, Rhea and Lewis; son, Seth Wick; daughter, Cathleen (Troy) Jostad and their children, Evan and Neil; sisters, Karen (James) Brickner and Cynthia (Stephen) Lenser; step-brother, David (Diane) Johnson; nephews and nieces, Barret (Hui) Brickner, Brandon Brickner, Travis James, Jennifer (Greg) Benedict, Kelly (Greg) Karston, Tony (Sarah) McKey; great-nephews, Carson Brickner and Cole Brickner; several other great-nephews and nieces; mother-in-law, Elaine Erickson; brother-in-law, Jim (Barb) Erickson; many other relatives and friends.He is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Dale Erickson; sister-in-law, Nancy (Herb) Krome.The family would like to thank their special neighbors, Bob and Patty Barney, Gundersen Health System Hospice team, Pastor Dave and all of the family and friends for your kind prayers and support.A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am on August 2, 2014 at the Coulee Region Cremation Group and Funeral Home, 133 Mason St., Onalaska, WI with military honors. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pastor David Baldukas will officiate with interment at the Burns Cemetery in Bangor.In lieu of flowers, memorial preferred to the Gundersen Lutheran Hospice (for Electric Bed’s).
Bob was a good and decent man and I had the great pleasure of working with him at Accounting Partners. I am honored to have known him and as my friend he will be deeply missed. Blessings to Peggy and the Wick family.
