I played in a band with Ron through college in Albuquerque and then later in a traveling band that performed in La Crosse. He liked the words “high energy” and those two words certainly describe his performing and singing. “Optimism” is another word that comes to mind, just the way he would excitedly look people in the eyes and talk about what’s next. Such a great vibe for the bandleader I knew him to be. Peace to Ron.
I met Ron in 1970 when I was a Sr in high school. I was a young guitar player, and became a roadie for the first band he formed, simply called Earth. Later in life, I worked with Ron on many band and music related projects from promotion, to lighting (I owned a lighting system we toured with). We toured together for nearly 5 years, then parted in Louisville, KY when I moved to LaCrosse to enroll in the University of Wisconsin Music Program. We reunited when later, Ron also returned to the LaCrosse area. At that time, I had a small studio in LaCrosse, and we wrote and recorded four songs together. When I got married and started having kids, we just sort of lost touch in the early 1990’s. He was more than my friend for many years, and though he was only 3 years my senior, I affectionately called him “Dad.” I’m gonna miss you Amigo.
Ron Hedges was the type of intelligent and creative personality I greatly miss being around. We crossed paths purely by chance in the early 80s and worked together traveling the US for a time. The band was a synergistic mix of talented individuals, each bringing their own unique strengths. In addition to his singing and playing skills, Ron fronted the band quite well and in his own distinctive way. Sadly, Ron is the third bandmate from that group to pass. I will never forget any of them and am grateful to have known them all. Godspeed, Ron. Thanks for the experience and the memories. You were one of the good guys.

He was my friend. Played with him from 1975 till 1980. His gregarious and infectious personality always managed to come out on top.
Hi Barry, I hope you’re well Amigo.
