Shirley Mae Servais

Shirley Mae Servais, 79, of Middle Ridge, WI passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023.  She was born December 1, 1943 in La Crosse to Vaughn and Muriel (Chaney) Skrede.  Shirley was a 1961 graduate of Viroqua High School and attended La Crosse Vocational School.  On April 23, 1966, she married Leo Servais at Sacred Heart Church in Cashton, Wis.

Shirley and Leo farmed near Middle Ridge their entire lives.  She worked at the Bank of Cashton and was a rural mail carrier for many years.  Shirley volunteered as a member of St. Peter’s Altar Society, the Cashton Cupboard, and was a past Bangor school board member.  She enjoyed family, polka music and dancing, Elvis, shopping, tractor work, travel, and spending time with grand kids. Her grand kids were everything to her including her only great granddaughter Collins Mae.  She would sit hours at sporting events and enjoyed watching all of them compete.

Shirley is survived by her son Douglas (Brenda) Servais of Middle Ridge; daughter Julie (Wayne) Gorski of La Crosse; grandchildren Kayla (Travis) Wegner, Luke (Delaney) Servais, Caden Servais (Olivia Key), Zachary Servais,  Alec Gorski, Anna Gorski (Kalyn Jahn), and Adam Gorski; great granddaughter Collins Mae Wegner; sisters Barbara Simonson and Ella (Harland) Hoeft of Cashton; sisters-in-laws Betty Althoff, Loretta Nockels, Diane Silha, Arlene (Roger) Young, Delores (Ray) Spies, all of La Crosse, and Jean (Al) Hammes of Stoddard, brothers-in-law George (Jean) Servais of Rockland, Mass., Cletus (Bonnie) Servais of Bangor, Clarence Servais of Cashton, and Stanley Servais of La Crosse.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, parents Vaughn and Muriel Skrede, in-laws George and Ida Servais; sisters Sharon Christopherson and Charlene Colby; brother Roger Skrede; brothers-in-law Ronald Simonson, Carland Christopherson, Arnold Servais, Jack Nockels, Leo Althoff, Jerome Weiker, Leo Whalen, and Larry Silha; sisters-in-law Marcella Weiker and Caroline Whalen; nephews Kurt Servais, Dan Simonson, and Paul Hammes; and niece Bernadette Olson.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 3:00 pm at St. Peters Catholic Church in Middle Ridge with visitation from 1:30 pm until the mass at the church.  Interment will be held at the St. Peters Catholic Cemetery.  A dinner will be served after the interment in the church basement.
