Obituary
Sonia Gail Manske
Sonia was born March 12, 1950, at 12 pm, in Galesville, in the doctor’s office (because he had to go to church first!) Born to Gerald and Selma Berg. Sonia was a 1968 graduate of G.E.
Sonia’s first job was working at the Galesville Rootbeer Stand, owned by her Uncle Palmer (Edella) Stone. She later went to work at the Garment Company, and that’s where she first met Lonnie. She also worked at the Garment Factory, Jack Winter’s Company, Winona Knitting Mills, and at Shopko in Onalaska until her retirement (when they closed) at the age of 65 years.
In her spare time, she loved to travel, going to Norway, on cruises to Alaska and Hawaii. She loved watching her boys play sports, and now her granddaughter. She bowled on many different teams over the years. She enjoyed playing cards and was very hard to beat. She loved watching the Packers, and she loved her knick-knacks!!! (lighthouses).
She was the “hub”. Everyone came to her. She couldn’t go anywhere that she wouldn’t know them and she never forgot a name or face.
Any memorials are preferred to go to the church.
We would like to thank Mayo Hospital, Mayo Hospice and Brightstar Care for their help and care during this difficult time.
Survived by her husband Lonnie, two sons, Lance (Abby) Manske, and Todd (Robyn) Manske, granddaughter, Marit Manske. Brother Larry (Sue) Berg, sister Renee (Ralph) Solberg, 31 nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Selma Berg, and brother Galen(Marlene survives him) Berg, sister, Elda (Morton) Alexander.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 11:00 am at Holmen Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at French Creek Cemetery. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
