Sonja Rae (Waller) Freismuth
Sonja Rae (Waller) Freismuth, 67, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family and friends Monday, August 25, 2014. Sonja was born January 7, 1947 to Ellsworth and Esther (Sjuggard) Waller. Sonja will be greatly missed.
She was the most loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Blessed be her memory. Sonja lived for her family. Hayley’s dog, Kya, became her own. She
loved everything Mickey Mouse, and Elvis Presley. She loved Tuesday night cards and coffee clutch with the neighbor ladies. She celebrated birthdays with her famous saying, “ Happy birthday, many, many, many more.” She was loving, caring and always welcomed everyone into her home. She was a second mom to many.
Sonja was preceded in death by her father Ellsworth Waller, her mother in law, Elsie (Freismuth) Galewski, her sister Virginia Brophy, and her brother Daniel Waller. Sonja is survived by her mother Esther (Howie Small); husband of 49 years, Frank Freismuth; children Kim (Brian) Shockey
of Holmen and their children Kyle and Justin Freybler (Cindy Ruud), Daniel Riniker, and Tyler, Shelbi, and Dylan Shockey; Heather King and children Hayley King, and Trent Anderson and his son Daxton (great grandson); Travis (Maria) Freismuth and their children Kassie and Landen of Bangor; and
Trevor Freismuth and children Tyler and Hunter of Onalaska; sister and brothers Rick (Chris) Small, Joan (Herb) Kiester, Ruth (Jack) Gautsch, Diane (Tom) McMahon, John (Liz) Freismuth; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and special friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 30 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in West Salem, WI. from 1100 AM to the time of the service at 1:00 PM. Lunch will follow the service.
Kim, Heather, Travis, and Trevor, Just wanted you to know even though we moved to South Dakota I generally check the Lacrosse Tribune. I was very much saddened by reading of your mothers passing. I always enjoyed my conversations with her. Every time we met I could sense the love she had for you kids. Please accept my sympathy and keep on keeping on. John Bjerke
Sending heartfelt condolences to the entire family, particularly Esther who was a great mom to me on many a weekend sleepover during our most formative years. So many precious memories are held dear in my heart. RIP my dear friend – wish we could have reconnected sooner.
So very sad to learn of Sonja’s death. She was a good friend to me in high school. I have thought about her often.
