Stanley “Stan” Lewis Crowell, 78, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side on Thursday, April 21, 2011.

He was born on September 6, 1932 to Eddie and Freida (Suhr) Crowell. He married Janet Joyner on December 13, 1956.

 

Stan enjoyed golfing and computers. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was an engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and was honored with the achievement of implementation of the NASA Deep Space Network which enhanced the Voyager 2 encounter at Neptune.

 

Stan is survived by his wife, Janet Crowell of La Crosse; beloved daughter, Tracy Smith and grandson, Dylan of La Crosse; son, David (Denise) Crowell and grand daugthers Olivia of La Crosse and Carly of Shoreview, MN; sister, Pauline Jaumont; brother, Thomas Crowell; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mildred.

 

Tracy would like to thank Sandy Gabrielson, Brooke Casper, Vicki Monk, and the hospice team at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.

 

A private service will be held at a later date. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
