Susan Elizabeth Arroyo

Susan Elizabeth Arroyo, age 65, of La Crosse, Wisconsin passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 after fighting a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Susan was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Robert Ames and Marilyn (Jackson) Van Wyk on December 30, 1958. Susan grew up on French Island and graduated from Logan High School in 1977. After graduation, she entered the banking industry and had a long, successful career before retiring in April of 2022. Susan married Gregory Arroyo in May of 1988 and spent 36 years together. Her interests included camping, boating, working in her gardens, and playing cards with her friends and family. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and spoiling
her grandchildren.

Susan is survived by her husband, Gregory Arroyo, children Caitlyn (Dylan) Clipper and Eric (Julie) Arroyo, and grandchildren Ayden, Alex, Fenix, Owen, and Jaxon. She is also survived by her half-sisters, Sarah (Ames) Wickham and Maggie Ames. She is further survived by step-siblings, Teunis (Pam) Van Wyk, Katrina (Wade) Turner, Kristina (Rick) Beckfeld and Katrinka (Greg) Rosenquist.

Susan is preceded in death by her father Robert Ames, mother Marilyn Van Wyk, and son Jacob Bantley.

We would like to thank Gundersen Lutheran’s Oncology Department for taking such wonderful care of Susan during her battle. We would also like to thank St. Croix Hospice Care for making it possible for Susan to spend her final days in the comfort of her home with her loved ones.

A memorial service will be held on July 26 at 11:30 am at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St. Onalaska, WI.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service.

Susan Arroyo will be greatly missed and forever loved.

    Such a beautiful soul..will miss you so much..such great memories over 64 years..A wonderful friend an neighbor. You are already missed so much Sue, but you are no longer in pain..NO cancer in heaven..thanks for the memories and I will always be here for your family..love you

    I am so grateful I was able to spend time with Sue throughout the years. She will be remembered in my heart as a kind and loving person and a courageous woman who accepted the cards that were dealt to her with strength and faith. ❤️

    Sue, I think of you often and miss your company at grandkids birthday parties and gatherings. You’ve always been a warm-hearted woman and kind to everyone around you.     Great memories of Sue growing up with our kids – flashlight tag, tetherball, birthday parties. She will be remembered for her friendliness and smiling face. The neighborhood will never be the same, The Mike Kakuska Family
