Susan Jane Isbell, 73, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, July 23, after a short illness. Sue was born July 12, 1950, in La Crosse to James and Florence Olson. She graduated from Logan High School in 1968. Sue married James Isbell on May 8, 1971, at St. James Church in La Crosse. They just celebrated 52 wonderful years together.

Sue had a career at the La Crosse Telephone Company and then went on to raise three wonderful children. Sue and Jim loved traveling to local casinos and yearly trips to Laughlin and Wendover, Nevada, with close friends. Her favorite memories were visiting Las Vegas with Jim and spending time with her grandchildren.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jimmy and sister Jeanne Dawson.

Sue was survived by her husband, Jim, son Jim, daughter Stacey Challe,  daughter Jennifer (Steve) Gonzalez, sister Mary Devine; Brother-in-law Bob Isbell (Kris) and Mike Dawson and five wonderful grandchildren, Lucas and Kali Isbell; Kylie (Stevens), Emery Challe, and Logan Gonzalez. Sue also had many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Per Sue’s wishes, there will be no service and only a private family visitation. The Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jim, I am so sorry to read about Sue passing away. She was too young for this to happen. We think nothing can go wrong and then something like this illness happens. If there is anything I can do to help let me know. I loved working with you.

Jim and family….I am SO sorry for your loss. I’ve always hoped I would run into Sue around town but never did, which is unbelievable. Didn’t she ever go out shopping or to eat? She sure was beautiful and one of my best friends in high school. We graduated together. Take care. Again, so sorry for your loss. Very sad to hear this.
