Obituary
Susan L. Johnson
Susan L. Evenson-Johnson, 71, of La Crosse, passed away at her home, on Monday, March 10, 2025. Susan was born September 14, 1953, to Maynard and Anita Evenson. She married Bill Johnson on February 13, 1989.
Sue spent her days doing what she loved most, spending time with her family and loved ones. Whether they were just relaxing at home, playing cards, or taking a trip to the casino, Sue made sure it was always a good time. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband Bill and absolutely loved spending time with their grandkids, Kiki and Ian. They are truly what kept her going. She made it to numerous parades and performances no matter where they were and to all the different athletic games over the years. When she wasn’t busy with the grandkids she spent her days shopping, gardening, baking, reading, getting her nails done, sewing, and collecting knick-knacks. She absolutely loved doing many of these things with her closest friends Paula, Deb, and Alie, her niece Missy, and granddaughter Kyrstin. Although Sue found many hobbies, her favorite was traveling. Sue spent many of her years adventuring with Bill, going to many new places and back to their favorites. She made sure to always take her yearly trip to Florida where she’d spend her time in the ocean or sunbathing on the beach.
Sue truly had an impact on everyone she met, no one could ever forget her sense of humor or just how giving and caring she was. Sue was like a grandma to many, Nevaeh, Zahra, and Bella had a special place in her heart. Whether you just needed someone to talk to, a shoulder to cry on, or some advice, she was always there. Sue was never afraid to tell it like it was, and that’s what made her such a good friend.
Sue is survived by her husband, Billy Johnson; her son, Robert Rochester of La Crosse, WI; her granddaughter, Kyrstin Rochester of La Crosse, WI; her grandson, Ian Rochester of La Crosse, WI; her brother, Dave (Vicky) Evenson of West Salem, WI; her best friend forever and sister-in-law, Paula Johnson of Olive Branch, MS; sister-in-law Diane (Neil) Hendrickson of West Salem, WI; sister-in-law Marlene (John) Lisowski of Independence, WI; sister in law Bonnie Johnson of Holmen, WI; and brother-in-law Butch Ehlo of La Crosse, WI.
