Theodore “Ted” Michael Neary
Theodore “Ted” Michael Neary, of Holmen, died on Monday, July 21, 2025 at the ripe old age of 80. Ted was born February 1, 1945 in La Crosse, WI to Wilbur and Norma (Tollackson) Neary. He married Sally Ammerman, which they had 2 children, Melissa and Jason, and later divorced.
Ted is survived by children, Melissa (Mark) Kowald, Jason Neary; grandchildren, Alivia Braund, Wyatt Peterson, Mark (Matt) Jr, Katie (Michael) Babler, Luke Kowald; great-granddaughter, Phoebe; his precious dog, Jada. He is also survived by his sisters, Cecelia (Rick) Loken, Juanita Neary; many nieces, nephews, long-time companion Carol, and close friends at McHugh Manor.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Norma; sister, Ellen (Rick); brothers, Bobby, Billy (Connie), Bruce, Tommy; and his 3 beloved dogs, Duke, Sam and Coconut.
He looked forward to Spring every year for Turkey hunting with Jason and to Fall every year for Deer hunting with Henry in Ironwood. He will be remembered for his wise cracks and humorous profanity. Even if you didn’t see him enter the room, soon enough you’d know he was there by his unique loud voice, huge laugh or snapping of his gum.
An open house gathering will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St., Onalaska. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting his family.
So sorry for your loss. Ted was my neighbor. Will miss not seeing him and his dog Jada.
