LA CROSSE- Thomas “Bambi” Paul Volk, 58, passed away peacefully on August 14th 2014 in Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.

He was born February 21st, 1956 to William James Volk Sr. and Helen Lillian (Finch) Volk. He and his lifelong partner, Tamara Kay Woodard, had four children between the two of them: William (Kathy) Krause, Roderick K. Woodard, DeNasha Renee & Kelcie Dawn Phinney.

He is survived by: his life partner of over 21 years, four children, four sisters: Linda (Don) Matthews, Patty Minx, Mary (Alan) Wheeler and Susan (David) Wooden as well as two brothers: William J. (Debra) Volk Jr. and James Volk. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Ronnie Krause, Drake Krause and Roderick Keith Woodard III as well as a great-grand daughter: Joy Krause. Bambi was a very devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews and great-nieces/nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents as well as two sisters: Sandra and Henrietta. Bambi was best known for being a carpenter by trade and an amazing artist; he would spend hours upon days putting avid detail into his sketches of wildlife, self portraits but more than anything; lovely ladies upon Harleys. Being a loyal family man and friend was most important to him going to Sunday dinner at his little sisters & to go spend time with his best friend Brad. Bambi also loved all our pets at home, especially our little dog Cocoa who’s always a step behind him. He spent as much time as possible with his love, Tam & girls; Nasha & “Vern.”

A special thanks to everyone who has been at our side these last two weeks, he took great comfort in being surrounded by his beloved sisters, friends, children and grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, September 7th at his favorite hangout Silverdale in Sparta from 1:00 to 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

Condolences

Very sorry for your loss. Bambi was a great person. I enjoyed talking with him very much in just the recent year that I got to know him better. He will be missed by all.
