Timothy Scott Hamilton
TIMOTHY SCOTT HAMILTON. 07/10/57 – 01/28/26
Timothy ‘Tim’ Hamilton, 68, passed into Glory in the early morning of January 28, 2026 at Serenity House Hospice Center in Tomah, WI. He was born on July 10, 1957 in Tomah, WI to C. David, Sr. and Harriet (White) Hamilton. Tim grew up as the middle child with two awesome brothers flanking him, Chuck and Tom. The three of them gave their parents a ‘run for their money’!
Early years began as a ‘Navy brat’ living in several states across the country before coming back to the Midwest, staking La Crosse as their permanent home. Grandparents, aunts and uncles along with his cousins brought happiness and security after living on Navy bases. He had special memories of family time at the Hamilton cottage on Long Lake in Waupaca, exploring the intricacies of the White Funeral Home in Tomah, and of course the Habelman cranberry marshes.
His love for music led him to join the La Crosse Blue Stars as well as the high school band. He had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed being in the school choir, church choir and playing Simeon in a Coulee Region Gospel Choir’s Christmas Program. In the mid 90’s he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and began his love for praise and worship songs. Tim was on the worship team and a worship leader helping others to embrace Jesus through song. He also played percussion and sang with a local Christian band ‘Beats of Freedom’.
Tim graduated from Central High School in 1975. His work experience encompassed the food industry, hospitality (hotel), then to warehouse work at (Gateway) Fleming Foods. He then went to Western Wisconsin Tech to earn his degree in business management. LHI was his final employer before health issues led to early retirement.
In November 1978, Tim married Laurie Morkwed. Tim and Laurie were truly blessed with two sons, Richard (Richie) and Joseph (Joe). The boys were the miracles they had been waiting for. He cherished his time with them, especially on the houseboat in the summers. Tim was a good boat captain and shared his passion for the river with his dad. Together they were able to pass on this love of the river to Rich and Joe, a lasting legacy. Tim also enjoyed watching and discussing the different cooking and smoker YouTube videos with the boys. Both have become as proficient at smoking meats and vegetables as their dad. He was so proud as he watched the boys grow into wonderful loving men with families of their own.
Though Laurie and Tim later divorced, they remained friends.
Tim is survived by his two sons: Richard (Miranda) Hamilton, La Crosse, and Joseph (Kristin Zutavern) Hamilton Waukesha; four grandchildren Oliver, David and Livia Hamilton; and Madison Hamtavern; his brother, Charles D., Jr. (Chuck) and wife Terri Hamilton. He is also survived by his former wife, Laurie, and her siblings Julie (Greg) Gran and Mari (Norm) Erickson, along with many nieces and nephews.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents; two unborn children (which he has now met); brother Thomas (Tom) E. Hamilton, and one nephew, Thomas E. (Tommy II) Hamilton II.
Tim’s family wishes to thank Jim Baxley, Tim’s friend and spiritual mentor; Dr. Paul Molling and his team, Katie, P.A., and nurse, Barb; the doctors, nurses and Palliative Care staff at Mayo Hospital; and last, but certainly not least, the loving and compassionate team at Serenity House in Tomah.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 Sill St., La Crosse, WI. Visitation from 10:00-11:00, service at 11:00.
Thank you to Joe Schams and Coulee Region Cremation Group for your much needed guidance and direction.
Timmer, the pain and suffering of cancer have been transformed into your glorious, heavenly body. Give our babies hugs and kisses from their mama until I hold them in heaven. 1-2-4
